VA Disability Calculator
Enter each of your service-connected disability ratings. We’ll combine them using the VA’s official combined-ratings formula (38 CFR §4.25), including the bilateral factor when it applies (38 CFR §4.26).
How VA math works
The VA doesn’t add ratings together. Instead, each new rating applies to the “whole person” you have left. Example: 50% + 30% isn’t 80% — the 50% leaves 50% of you healthy, the 30% takes 30% of that remaining 50 (15 points), giving 65%, which rounds to 70%. If you have disabilities on both arms, both legs, or paired muscles, the bilateral factor adds 10% of their combined value before the rest of the math. This calculator is an educational estimate based on the VA’s published combined-ratings tables. It is not an official VA determination and doesn’t guarantee any outcome. For help with your claim, talk to an accredited representative.
